WARRRRR EAGLE!!!!

I was so nervous during the second half of the game I almost changed the channel to relieve some of the anxiety. At the end of the game I was glad that I did not because kicking the winning field goal despite the last second attempt of their coach. On a sad note if we could only not underestimate the "smaller" teams our season would be better.
WARRRRR EAGLE baby!

Lakyn

This is about Lakyn Rodgers who was born September 2,1992 and her life support was disconnected September 3,2005. Lakyn Danielle Rodgers died from a ruptured brain tumor. All the doctors "missed" it until the Wed. before she died when she had another headache and her regular pediatrician ordered an MRI. She was then sent to Birmingham. It was so quick and she was gone. We had been friends with the family for years. She and my daughter had been playmates since about the time they could crawl. She was a "Prima Donna Pain" but a good kid. We all still miss her immensely. Everytime my daughter or son hit a milestone in their life I think of Lakyn and how Danny and Christy will never have that with her. It makes me so sad even two years later.
I have posted a picture of her and her family on their last trip to Disney in August 2005 before Lakyn died in September 2005

THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

What a way to start. Straughn High School played Red Level High School last night. The original game was scheduled for Thursday night. It originally drew a very large crowd owing to the fact that it is an intense rivalry but drought ravaged south Alabama has finally began to get much needed rain. Now mind you a simple rain does NOT postpone a football game. A blazing thunderstorm with lightening that knocks out power over a 30 or so mile area does. The return match up was amazing. Boys who do not get paid and may not ever play again once their high school career is over gave it their all. These are teams that mind you have cousins playing each other. Kids who after the game is over shake hands and ride through town. The final score was Straughn 15 Red Level 12. Last year ladies and gentleman the score was 40 to nothing Red Level with the bragging rights for a year. This year Straughn has that right. Believe me as soon as the final second ticked off the cell phones were out and calls being made to those who were unfortunate enough not to be in attendence. My daughter first called her grandmother (who is a Red Level Alumni)then called her brother who is a Senior at Straughn.
WHO HOO!!! STRAUGHN TIGERS RULE!!!!
